Kaos woke up later that night, to the sound of freakish groans outside the carriage. Dirk sat up fast as a bluish-gray hand slammed through the carriage. Half a dozen more followed only seconds later. Kaos took his sword from the opposite seat and started hacking away at the arms. But more kept coming. By this time, Erica was awake and helping in the fight. Kaos kicked down the door on top of two of the opponents, hopped out and was appalled by the sight. It was a small army of zombies. "Dirk! Give me a hand boy!" The two of them started a seemingly endless battle with the zombies, as they continued their massacre outside. Soon after, Erica followed. "They just keep coming!" Erica yelled. "Need some help?" A familiar voice boomed in the woods. "Steel Tip! We sure as hell could!" Kaos replied The four of them began their mighty onslaught, but the opposition just kept coming. Deeper in the woods, Kaos saw a man clad in a purple robe, with four white wolves approaching. The zombies fell when the man raised his hand. "What the hell is this?" Steel Tip asked. "Attack," The man said in a sinister voice. The largest wolf pounced towards Kaos, but Dirk slammed him aside. The next largest darted towards it’s larger comrade to attack Dirk, but Kaos cracked the handle of his sword into the wolf’s back, hurling it to the ground. Another bolted towards Erica, but Kaos slung a dagger into the back of its head. While Steel Tip killed the fourth with one of his silver arrows, Kaos dealt with the largest. He simply broke its neck, and watched the lifeless white wolf hit the ground. A tired group stood ready for the next move. The man in purple muttered a few ominous words in an unknown language and a light fog enveloped the area. A growl came from all four directions, from the four dead wolves. They rose with blood red eyes, and an incomparable passion for killing. The battered heroes backed into each other. As the wolves attacked, a bluish bubble surrounded them. It was like a glass ball protecting them from the outside. "What is this?" Kaos asked Erica. "I don’t know! I don’t mean to do it!" "No, don’t worry. I’m glad that you are." "What now?" Erica asked calmly. "I’m not about to die without finding out what happened to my folks." Kaos said. "Ahh, you are Kaos!" The evil man bellowed. "You’ll be happy to know I put your parents out of their misery without pain. Much anyway," A dark laugh followed. "You on the other hand must die unpleasantly, as well as all who desire to help you." "You son of a bitch!"

Heroes of Draconis: Crossroads
Crossroads was the first project that I ever wanted to continue doing. I had a rough start, but it became easier as time went on. Writing a book is fun if you are a good storyteller. Thoughts kept coming into my head as I wrote the book. I decided it was something that I wanted to do for awhile, and I think that the first book reflected that.
Once I realized that I loved it, it was too fun to just end where I could have. I resolved that I would make a series. Many characters represented real-life people. Many real-life situations were adapted to book format. However, creative ingenuity and imagination was to attribute for most of it.
Crossroads is about a young man who is just evolving into manhood. His life takes an unexpected twist, making adolescence even harder. His existence is threatened, as well as the fate of the planet, and the only one with the power to do anything is the main character. Many emotions collide, as do people, which is the reason that it is called Crossroads.
About the Author
Michael DeAngelo was born in Levittown, Pennsylvania in 1983. He wrestled in an amateur-wrestling league before realizing that he enjoyed writing. He started writing Crossroads when he was seventeen, and continues to write presently. He still resides in Levittown, Pennsylvania with his friends and family.
