I'll See You Tomorrow

DREAM WRITER

Sometimes it’s hard to write a poem
My words get lost in time;
I sit and think without a wink
The purpose for this rhyme.

Hours come and hours go
My thoughts are not in vain;
I pause to write from morn to night,
Sometimes it causes pain.

And when I think I’ve done my best,
I lay my pen aside,
I pick my brain and once again
I know that I have tried.

So off I go, weary from writing
And pillow under my head,
I toss and turn with great concern
While sleeping in my bed.

When morning comes, I watch the clock,
And hasten with full-blown steam,
It’s then I believe what I’ve achieved
Comes only in a dream!

        THE BOAT

There was a boat that went afloat
In the South Pacific Ocean;
It was steered with such a layman’s touch,
It caused a great commotion.

As the water rose in the distant throes
It was plain for one to see,
The one who steered the wheel lacked great skill
And was headed for a tragedy.

But this hand from above reached down with love
And shielded the boat from harm,
The crew was encouraged and never worried
There was no cause for alarm.

So the boat sailed on in a different form
From what it did before,
And the men were wrest from this awful mess,
One hardly could ignore.

When the boat reached ground near the Puget Sound
The crew acknowledged their remedy,
Their spirits were high, and no one could deny
How they came through fearlessly.

So remember this boat that went afloat
As it sailed forward on the ocean blue;
Took a turn for the best, and one could attest
It was their faith that brought them through.

THE LONELY SOLDIER

There was a man who suffered much
And didn’t complain at all.
He carried His cross and paid the cost
And answered His Father’s call.

His mission in life was foretold in the Bible,
He journeyed from far and near
And spread the word as those who heard
Were struck with awe and fear.

He carried the cross of salvation
Which was meant to set us free;
He suffered awhile with a contented smile
Before He died on Calvary.

He carried the world on His lonely shoulders,
It was nothing He had to decide.
He did not complain about the constant pain
From the spear that pierced His side.

How many today know this lonely soldier
From His sacrifice on the cross
But you have a choice to lend your voice
And right this wrongful loss.
