About the Book
This
new collection of poems spans sixty-three years in the life of the author,
progressing from the more romantic teenage years to the present view from “the
far side of life”. Two previous publications, The Poet’s Eye, which was nominated for the Poet of Year award by
GWA, and Potpourri, are resurrected
from the same dormant storage box of compositions sporadically recorded on
anything at hand as the author went about the business of family and business
involvement. ENCORE, as well as her
previous publications, should appeal to all age groups, regardless of gender,
because of the diversity of subject matter reflecting emotions, observations
and events experienced or witnessed by the author with such intensity as to beg
recording. Photos have been added to this collection relative to certain poems
including While Watching the Funeral of
John F. Kennedy, as well as poems and scenes inspired by her husband’s
fantastic and beautiful gardens. Animal
lovers should be captivated by photos and poems inspired by family pets. The
readers of this book should anticipate tears from some of the poems, amusement
from others, and perhaps from all a closer look at life through the probing
eyes of this poet.
