About the Book

Baseball is a game, not rocket science.  Sometimes the simplicity of the game of baseball can get lost in a clutter of endless philosophies.  As coaches of younger ball players it is important to keep things simple.  It is also important to know how to address the needs of each individual player so as to maximize his potential.  A Coach’s Handbook is a collection of observations, notes, and illustrations organized to be a helpful resource that aids in the instruction for those who coach the game.  To be effective, a baseball coach needs to understand the finer points of the game.  This book breaks down what to look for in a player’s approach to hitting and pitching.  It offers helpful suggestions and drills to fix some of the common faults that many young, aspiring baseball players possess.  This book makes a great asset to any coach’s library.

About the Author

Jeff Gutjahr is getting set to start his 6th season as a baseball coach at Kirkwood High School in St. Louis, Missouri.  Before coming to Kirkwood, Jeff completed his degrees in Education and Mathematics at Webster University also in St. Louis.  While at Webster, he played for the school’s baseball team enjoying all-conference honors all 3 of his seasons as an outfielder and pitcher.  His book, A Coach’s Handbook, is a collection of thoughts on hitting and pitching meant to help those who teach the game communicate more effectively to their players.
