AMPUTATION
one can endure the severing of a limb
draining life from the rim
but still able to survive
albeit less alive
yet the amputation of dreams
solidifies internal screams
that prosthesis cannot heal
no less deal
and those nerves have lost their zeal
gone to the dead
staring out the window instead
as it is hard to breathe
for thinking makes you heave
and the devastation
of amputation
is that there is no artificial emotion
or any magic potion
to restore what life did sever
isn't existence clever
making you dream
watching you as you scream
imagination is the tarnish
moaning a garnish
looking over the edge
losing much more than an appendage
an overdose of aspirin will never console
the chronic ache in my soul
for all my heart has created
has been amputated
