Chapter IV
Mother & Step-Father Joseph
5 BC-16 AD (Nearly 21 years of marriage/protection)
#10. When Joseph returns home, he discovers Mary’s pregnancy. In shock, Joseph did not know what to think or what to do in this situation. While Joseph was away working, the Virgin Mary had become pregnant, and Joseph was responsible for her safety. Joseph first looked internally for an answer regarding what had he not done. And then, Joseph knew he needed to know who was responsible. Mary was in denial of any contact with a man. She explained to Joseph she didn’t know exactly how she became pregnant. She could only tell him it was God’s will. Not fully understanding the situation, Joseph needed to know what God would have him do. As he searched for an answer as to how he had failed God he pondered Mary’s dilemma as he slept. Joseph was beside himself with what to do about this situation. He wasn’t quite sure if he should dismiss her quietly or expose her to the public as was the custom.
(KJV, Matthew 1:18-19) “18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.”
#11. Joseph’s struggle within ended when an angel appeared to him in a dream, assuring him the child growing within Mary’s body was of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was told to continue to protect Mary, and to name the child Jesus.
Through the grace of God and the righteousness of Joseph, Mary was able to fulfill her vow of chastity throughout her entire 67 years of flesh life.
(KJV, Matthew 1:20-25) “20. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.”

Some of us find our way back to GOD through the Messiah before we draw our last breath. Regardless of how we live our life or what we choose to believe, we eventually draw our last breath and find ourselves back with GOD and subject to his judgment.

Background research for this book revealed the Virgin Mary's lineage stemmed from Arphaxad's other son Cainan. The record shows Arphaxad had two sons, Salah and Cainan. I have to wonder if people knew this when Christ ministered.
