If You Can't Tell It, Let Me Tell It!

I’ve always heard about the trials and tribulations that women go through, but no one wants to tell their stories. Oftentimes, women are too embarrassed and/or humiliated to admit they are being abused. Women continue to hurt because of the experiences they never talk about. They are either afraid and/or have been trained not to tell. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Don’t tell what goes on in this house” or “Don’t tell any body your business.” To a certain extent, that is true. But when it hides the abuse that goes on behind closed doors, it’s just wrong.

I too was told not to talk about the abusive relationships I was in. I held the secrets in for years. As I held in the pain, I became hard hearted, bitter, and angry. When I did find the courage to tell my story, there was always someone who said I shouldn’t mention it. I was told it’s not a good idea to tell anyone because people will judge you. People will talk about you. People will think bad things about you. I’ve found that no matter what you do, people have and will always talk about you.

For years, women all over the world have been hurt and wounded. Women have given their hearts, minds, and bodies for the sake of love or the lack thereof. I too have been one of these women several times. A friend of mine described it to me like this. “You are a woman. Women love because it’s just who God made them to be. When a woman gives her heart to a man, he can sell her a dream and she’ll pay the price every time.” I thought it was very profoundly stated. I too was sold dreams. The last one turned out to be a nightmare. Only this time I’m going to tell it. I’m not only telling it for me, I’m telling it so other women will know it’s the only way to be free.

Since the word of God says the truth shall set you free, tell the truth. If confession is good for the soul, why don’t we talk about our pain and free ourselves? It’s like being in church and the Servant of the Lord offers the opportunity for anyone to give their lives to Christ or come up for prayer. Many may want to come, but no one wants to be the first one to get up. This woman of God does no longer just exist. I am going to live the life Jesus said I could have and have it more abundantly.

Of all the things I’ve said, done, and experienced in my life, God has allowed me to no longer be afraid or ashamed of them. He has not only forgiven me, but freed me from the bondage of secrets, lies and the games I learned to play. Painful as it’s been, wounded as I’ve felt, if my telling it will expose the lies of Satan, my pain was worth it. If my stories can help save one soul from the pits of deceit and hell, my pain was worth it. If my being talked about will stop one woman from abuse, my pain was worth it. If my telling my story stops one woman from continuing the cycle of abuse, then my pain was worth it. If telling my story stops abuse for another generation, all my pain and suffering was worth it.

This book is to all women and for all women. Know this. It’s time for the cycles of secrets, covering up for others, and remaining in bondage of the past to stop. It’s time to stop watching women sacrifice themselves and being wounded for someone to then tell them, “I could have told you this would happen.” Then why didn’t you tell it? Why would you want another person, be it friend or foe, to experience the pain and humiliation you’ve experienced. Why wouldn’t you help others avoid being hurt if you could tell it? Well, “If you can’t tell it, Let Me Tell it.”
