About the Book

Unlike the Author’s previous two books, “Portraits of Life” and “God’s Book of Dreams”, this volume titled, “Bible Time Rhymes”, consists of only Bible stories. It is fully illustrated with over ninety separate pieces of artwork drawn by Jerry Barnett. Jerry Barnett is a professional cartoonist who drew political cartoons for the Indianapolis Star for nearly forty years. In Bible Time Rhymes he has used his skill to illustrate each Bible story with a totally unique drawing. It is his hope that with each illustration the Bible story will come alive in the readers mind. Bible Time Rhymes is a collection of Bible stories that are in some cases familiar and some probably not. It is the author’s hope that children and adults will learn about stories not so widely known as well as read of such well known stories as “Noah and His Ark”, “Samson”, and others. It is also the author’s desire that the reader will find affirmation, inspiration, and hope, as well as develop a genuine thirst for the Eternal as he reads this volume. Mark Crouch

About the Author

Coming from three generations of forebears who felt called to missionary work, Mark Crouch showed no inclination to follow in the tradition.  Though born in Egypt while his parents were missionaries there, contrariwise, he pursued a somewhat opposite lifestyle.

Possessing maverick tendencies, he dropped out of college, calling it boring and uninviting.  Finding himself successful in salesmanship, he was often afforded the advantages of travel, which fed his curiosity about the world around him as well as satisfied his thirst for adventure.   In his ‘30’s he returned to his early spiritual upbringing, which eventually led him to pursue studies in the Bible.  But it wasn’t until his mid ‘40’s that he suddenly began to write poetry, which culminated in his first book of poetry called “Portraits of Life”.

In his second book “God’s Book of Dreams”, he has combined poetry, largely Biblical or inspirational and a group of essays.  The essays were written almost two years before rhyme began to surface in his mind.

Loving the outdoors from infancy, he took every opportunity afforded him to observe and study God’s animal and bird world, even the intricate behavior of insects.

Enjoy exploring with him the beauty and grandeur of God’s Word through the eyes of a child. In this his third book of poetry, Bible Time Rhymes, God’s Word is expounded and illustrated in the hope that the Bible can come alive to both the young and old.
