“It’s a risky game that you’re playing, these people have no scruples, if she wrote an article about your husband what would keep her from writing an article about you and I?”

“Money.” Elizabeth answered, she had only been inside this house once before, ten years ago when Rachel had fallen, it was on their wedding night, Elizabeth had come here with Marcus to sit at Rachel’s bed side.

Elizabeth hauntingly remembered the room where Marcus had spent his time with Ellen, before he had met her, she hesitated momentarily at the door way.

“Was this her room?” Randall asked.

“Yes.” She took in a deep breath, “I told Marcus that I wouldn’t stay here.”

Randall looked around the room, it was decorated in soft pastels, the shades were open, good. Elizabeth was busy lighting the lamp beside the bed while Randall was busy

removing his clothes. As he walked toward the uncovered window he spoke. “Remove your hat and come to the window.” Randall had removed his shirt and his trousers were unbuttoned.

As Elizabeth removed her hat she turned around in time to see that he was removing his pants, “Don’t you think you’re carrying this a bit too far?”

“Don’t question me, just come after me, once I reach for the window shade, pretend Elizabeth.” Randall walked toward the window, not knowing whether it had really been William and Ellen following them, or if they watched from below he would follow this sham through. Randall knew that he wouldn’t have to pretend, but he would take advantage of her caresses for one night and hopefully live to tell about it.

Elizabeth walked toward the window, trying to keep her eyes focused on his back; Marcus was the only man she had seen undressed, until now. He reached for the shade and turned around as she approached.

Before he could reach for the draw string he spoke, “Grab my arm Elizabeth.” She did as he commanded, as he turned around, he wrapped himself around Elizabeth, not bothering with the shade. One by one he removed the pins from her hair until her hair fell down the middle of her back; Randall tangled his hand into her hair as he held the back of her head.
