It was past supper time and dark outside. Santa, Junior and Harmony sat around the stove. They were worried about Mama Claus. She should have been home hours ago.
Santa said “Son. Something is wrong in the forest. Mama has never been gone this long.”
"Santa, why don’t you stay here in case Mama comes home. Harmony and I will take a flashlight and try to find her in the forest.” Junior said.
"OK son, but hurry. I’m very worried about her.” Santa replied.
With in minutes, Harmony and Junior were riding a toy snowmobile into the forest. They rode slowly, looking for Mama Claus. They yelled several times, but Mama was nowhere to be found.
Just then they saw the note on the tree addressed to Santa. Harmony noticed the snow near the path was messed up. She also saw the paw tracks of Mean, the polar bear and the nasty wolf.
"Look here Junior,” she said. Here’s Mama’s footprints and there are two sets of animal prints in the snow heading south. Somebody has carried Mama away.”
The children took the note back to Santa as fast as they could. When they got back to the cabin they told Santa what they had found and handed him the note. It was the first time they ever saw Santa’s brow wrinkled with worry. A tear came to his eyes as he peered over his glasses and read the note aloud.
Santa:
We have kidnapped Mrs. Claus and are holding her for ransom. If you ever want to see her again, do exactly as we tell you. Do not tell the authorities. Put Mrs. Claus’s candy cane recipe on the same tree next to the path in the forest. We have attached two rockets to a large magnifying glass and fired it into space. A compass will make it stop directly over the north pole at
Santa’s hands were shaking. “Children, what can we do?” He asked.

About the Book
An orphan boy was left on the doorstep of Santa and Mrs. Claus on a cold wintry night. He was adopted, named Junior and raised as their own son. Junior grew up and became friends with a girl elf named Harmony.
One day two north pole villains decided to kidnap Mama Claus and hold her for ransom or Christmas would be destroyed. Junior and Harmony devised a plan to rescue Mama Claus, capture the bad guys and save Christmas.
This is a story to be enjoyed by all ages.
About the Author
William E. Manning is a U.S. Navy veteran and served on board the U.S.S. SAUFLEY EDDE 465 for 3 years. He is a retired law enforcement officer living in a small coastal community on the One Christmas, his children asked him, “Why doesn’t Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus have any children?” Why not indeed and the story was born.
