About the Book

This book reveals the legacy of a remarkable woman, Notra Stewart. Although I have not met Notra in person yet, she has had a tremendous impact in my life. The motivation to write this book came from the numerous phone calls we’ve had.  Some of her thoughts and her outlook on life are revealed in this book. We sometimes need people in lives who genuinely care about us. The essence of this story is the power of an extraordinary relationship as well as life changing experience. Even at the age of eighty-five, Notra’s life is still reminiscent of the extraordinary influence she has had on people around her

About the Author

I believe that God put Notra Stewart in my life to accomplish a divine purpose. I lived in New Hampshire in the mid 1990s where I did workshops on African folklore and culture for high school students and I told stories to younger students. I gave talks at the University of New Hampshire Women Studies Department about the role of African women as portrayed in novels written by famous African writers, like Chinua Achebe, Flora Nwapa, and Buchi Emecheta. In 1998, I received an excellence award for producing an African storytelling session, “Moonlight Tales” on Greensboro Community Television. In 2000 I made a life changing decision to go back to school to get a masters degree in education. I graduated from the University of Maryland in May of 2002 with a Masters degree in Education. Presently, I teach sixth grade English and Reading teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland.
