Prologue
I’ve been dying to tell somebody this story for the longest time -literally. It’s like one of those life and death movies made by an independent film company because the major studio executives didn’t think it had a prayer for being a mainstream commercial hit. What a joke! This has success written all over it; the details make you laugh one minute and cry the next. My guess is that HBO will surprise everybody and quietly buy the movie rights from my mom.
It’s critical that I pass along this vital information. Well, it’s vital to me because my sister and I survived longer than we thought we would. We’re still here -1 think. Or maybe it’s just another whispered thought in another dream. If it sounds confusing, it is! But I don’t want to give anything away. You’ll have to read it for yourself. It’s a great story about some old subjects - living, dying, loving and coping. You know, playing the hand you’re dealt and that kind of stuff. But keep in mind all the people in the story are real; they’re just like you and me. Don’t be surprised if the storyline sounds vaguely familiar. Things like this don’t always happen to somebody else.
