How To Marry Up!

 Most dating relationships (contrary to popular belief) do not end in marriage, only the failing hope of marriage and if marriage comes as a result of dating, unfortunately in some not all, divorce soon follows.  This is because we have not been taught how to prepare ourselves for successful Christian marriages. The only marriages that glorify God and build His kingdom are those that are prosperous, strong, life long marriages. Most of us think that by spending time together getting  to know each others’ likes or dislikes, habits, needs, getting to know each other’s family, friends, and religious beliefs makes us prepared to live happily ever after.  Are there better ways to prepare for marriage?  Yes, according to the Word of God.  Not to say that getting to know all those things aren’t important however; God’s word offers us so much more.  It was God who instituted and ordained marriage. Would He have done so without complete instructions?

     One of the biggest hindrances of single people walking in the fullness of God is thinking that it takes marriage to obtain a productive and prosperous life; that being married is going to make you happy and you won’t ever be lonely. If you choose to marry the wrong person you will achieve the very opposite things that you are trying to acquire. There are many married couples that are unproductive, broke, unhappy and lonely lying next to each other wishing they were single.  An unmarried person can spend so much valuable time grieving because they are alone; they miss their assignment from God. Everything that God has for you is on a path called righteousness. If you stray off that path you will miss the mark.
