LOOKING FOR SANITY
Trying to locate from whence life itself comes,
I travel within the depths of my being and reflect
How has creation dealt such a mighty punch to
Even yet, bewilder life’s origin and destiny?
I seek to loose the bindings of my meager soul…to squelch
The flames of inner emotions-singeing desires
Though I sink deeper, d e e p e r
Peering into darkness
Longing for light to spring from gloom
Simultaneously, I rise from my abysmal depths
Rise…rising h i g h e r
Even here in solitude, my essence slumbers
Concealing diminishing, retreating sanity
My flaming desire erupts again and again
Intimate and utter solitude can no longer hold me
Captive within my self
My skin may enslave my muscles and bones
My brain may enslave my mind
Yet desires effortlessly erupt…
Bursting forth-as blood rushes to
Heal a wounded heart-
Frantically seeking to find
Within my depth
The force which will enlighten
Will tenderly touch and awaken
Will open up a renewed awareness…
Thus, compassionately aroused
Still, desparately searching and
Yet, lovingly transformed
I find peaceful…
I find meaningful…
I find anticipated…
SANITY!!!
SELF PORTRAIT
As the years swiftly pass by
And I find more years behind me than ahead
As my once dark thick hair has thinned
And drained to silver upon my head
I will still dream and reminisce on
Exciting times I once had
Prompting me to exhibit a portrait unfinished
That without touchups could make me sad
I’ve welded brushes of life-sometimes dripping full

About the Author
Dee Freeman, a motivated, compelling poet, author, lyricist, singer, literary advocare, community activist, wife, mother and grandmother, plunges into her passion-writing. Her work has received commendations and awards. She provides The Lansing State Journal with articles; co-hosts “poetry slams” and shares her poetic talents at venues throughout Lansing and surrounding area. Previous books “Oceans of Love" and "Poetry She Wrote I”, are well received and her comcast TV show-Poetree-N-Motion has greatly expanded. She’s on target to complete her first and second novels in 2007.
