As they came out past the greenhouse closest to Whispering Eaves and into the driveway area between the three houses, Tim said, “Well, I see they’re here,” seeing the old station-wagon out front.
“Whoa! _There it is again!” Roger exclaimed, thinking what strange symmetry it was that Catharine would drive over in that particular car for their last session.
“I still have nightmares about that car!” Edward noted, strangely uneasy to see it at Westfarm.
“C’mon_ I wanna get up close and personal again!” John said cryptically.
Together, following John, they headed out to the front of Whispering Eaves to have a closer encounter with the car they had seen outside Abbotsford that night, and that they had all seen that last day, in Tannersville.
“It’s no thrill for me,” Tim said. “I’ve had to see that thing sitting outside Abbotsford for the last six months!”
“But isn’t it fascinating,” Neil said. “I remember this hulking old gas-guzzler passing by me over on Pine Ridge Road; how creepy it felt! Now, it’s just an ordinary car—well, except that it reminds me of a hearse!”
