Midsummer’s Day “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” Those endearing words I think as you seem to surpass in every way. In its fleeting hour; the weather, the season, and time can cause its decay, But my love, the beauty you arise, those things hold no such sway. Where is the shimmering of the sunny day when clouds come to blot? Yet your love shines still, whether or not. Under the weather, season, and time your light withers not away, Whither thine love takes us, shines without decay. Oh, but that beautiful day I stood watching and desiring it, nonplussed, Wondering how to capture its fleeting beauty, what to do of this lust. Yet my desire and thirst you alone can cure, With a beauty like unto the day you capture. Its very essence; the light, the rays; you hold like a cup, And when I desire its contents, I can drink it up. And when quenched, shall I care the season when with thou coupling, As I drink this love with its source the eternal spring? And because from that eternal source your love is emanating, It shall shine eternal without dissipating. So at the end of the day, where has its light gone? Or at the end of time, where shall be its light, which the sun shall no longer spawn? So you yet surpass the sunny day with love that shines and withers not away, Whithersoever succumbs the day to the black or gray. Sunny Day’s Revenge Uncommitted love when hath heeded not a vow, Escapes not even the sun from the darkness cast of thou. A sunny day it is, but 'tis to me a nark, Seen but as this through the eyes of unrequited love, solemn and stark. Yet for spite the sun still rears its head, it's revenge, For calling her the fairer, it hath come to avenge. Oh sunny day, quit your laughter, I think she’s not carried up with me in rapture. Oh sunny day quit your bliss, As love has returned not with a kiss. Oh sunny day, relinquish your joy; Mine, unrequited love hath come to destroy. Oh sunny day anyway I see not exist, When the heart gets not its wish. The sunny day, the white, the blue; what is this? I know it not when succumbs the heart to darkness. When love is still yet committed, and the heart unrequited, Love rears the darkness and hath overcast the day, unlighted. Oh the beauty that we miss when upon the heart such darkness weighs, And overshadows the joy and light by such bleakness cast o’er the sunny days. The heart, once so enraptured, an overcast day could dim it not; the light of love nothing overshadows. Yet now the heart’s gloom over the sunny day itself it dims, under a cloud of unmade vows. The Love Scrolls is a series of epic stories meant to celebrate, guide, uplift, inspire, and ultimately deliver the heart. The Love Scrolls: Seven, Anthology with its 668 pages includes all seven books in this series with 343 poems, including two bonus poems that give a peak at two future books with synopses in this continuing epic.
The Love Scrolls is a non-sequential, rhyming epic but if you read the series in this anthology's chronological order you will see each book slowly peel away the layers of love until it finally uncovers all of love's seven unique stages. If you delve into each book you will discover each stage is in fact a world, and likewise, in this series there are worlds to discover. So whether you read the epic from cover to cover, or you choose a story that sparks your interest, or perhaps you find a poem you particularly love, you will not get lost but in love itself. With so many worlds to discover you are bound to get lost as love reveals its endless scope and nature.
I like to think that if you take the series in in small doses, it will be your desserts for the heart. If you choose to take it in all at once, for your heart you will find it choice meat, in a world starved of love. If you let love lift you up to its greater worlds awaiting you in this epic, you may even find love's feast. The bottom line is this epic is so vast, so varied, and so storied everyone is bound to find something they will love, and they too will agree, The Love Scrolls is the epic to literally sweep you off of your feet.

About the Author
I like asking “What if?” because that is how The Love Scrolls began. Now, I have combined the first seven books of this rhyming epic series into this 700 page anthology. My reputation in college was affirmed when the poetic versus they asked me to recite at the lunch table turned into a realization. A fellow student from the performing arts class asked me to write a poem which was to be read before they performed that very evening. In about four short hours I wrote a poem called “The Gap Between Us”. After seeing the response from the audience with some individuals even standing, I knew I was on to something great.
In 2003 I was named Poet of the Year and Shakespeare award of excellence recipient, an award I again received in 2005. In my first book review by ForewordClarion Reviews' they used words like “an admirable feat”, “energy and emotion”, “trappings of the classical literary ballad”, “humor”, “lighter and lyrical poems” to those with “serious thoughts” to describe some of my work.
It all started with “What if?”. What if I take my love of great stories and great poems, and combine them into an epic that is at once deep and complex but accessible and easy with bite sized poems? What if this became more than just an epic? What if it became a mission, a mission to restore love? Then it becomes a journey. This epic is that journey because love is something worth fighting for, and there is no greater challenge, cause, or purpose under the sun. So to save a marriage, to save a soul, to make peace, to restore the bonds of family and God, and indeed, to preserve humanity itself, I present to you The Love Scrolls.
