About the Author

Shelia Ellis was born to Clinton and Priscilla Ellis July 14, 1968. Born and raised on the southside of Chicago. She's the proud mom of four beautiful girls. Shelia begin to write in the year of 1981 while attending West Pullman Elementary school. She wrote poetry for musical groups in 1982. She performed African dance at public schools during February making $30.00 per performance. She graduated at the top of her class from Professional Business School in 1992. While living on the streets, Shelia had realized that a lot of girls including herself was forced to ask the question why and how did they end up on the streets raising themselves. While she home schooled her 4 daughters, Shelia knew she had some explaining to do about sex and boys. This is when she came up with the idea to write a book about dysfunctional families in the form of a workbook, diary, and phonebook. Shelia watched her mom struggle to raise six kids alone. Shelia knew that although her mom loved them very much and gaved them everything that other kids had on the block her mom was never able to be there because of having to work. Shelia begin to write about her pain of raising herself. She came up with the idea that dysfunction starts when you are not married and you open up your legs to have sex for the wrong reason. Living in a hood that was infested with child molesters, drug dealers and drunks she was forced to deal with it all on her own. So she decided to teach her girls and other girls that might be living on the street who was forced to raise themselves how to raise themselves instead of their legs.
