About the Author
The author, Mrs. Cynthia Hughes, is wearing a replica of the dresses made of feed sack, design by Helen Harleston of Moncks Corner, SC. The material was donated by Williams Farm Feed Supply: J. Russell Williams Jr. Owner; Moncks Corner, S C. Cynthia is one of those people that you read about, hear about, but very seldom gets to meet or know. She is every bit the “Modern Day Heroine.” She is an excellent mother, a professional woman, passionate about her beliefs, determined, creative, strong-willed, courageous, and the possessor of a large faith in God. She cares about people. Period in a world where our first priority is self, she goes against the norm in her concern for others. It is her deep and abiding commitment to help others. That is truly heroic. Now you are hearing again from Cynthia Hughes. Her first book, “Just One Moment,” reflects her concern for children and their families who are victims of divorce. She clearly empathizes with children in a way that calls for our attention in a simple, yet profound way. Her second book, “Unconditional Love,” an autobiography of a unique Jeanes Teacher, who demonstrates how unconditional love is a way of life with very big rewards. Cynthia Hughes has a B.S. degree from South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina, and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, Pa. She has worked as a social worker in Chester, and Columbia, South Carolina, and in Orlando, Fl. Also has work with local agencies, the school systems as a parent coordinator, instructional coach and other roles.
