ACT ONE
Scene One
Three girls are standing near the entrance.
Nicole:
Rochelle: (Shaking head up and down) Yeah… and the food and drinks were off the chain.
Calleen: (Smiling) Don’t forget about all those cuties.
Rochelle: Right, right, right. (Tyrone enters holding Trea’s hand and his boom box. The song “It Wasn’t Me” is playing.)
Trea: (Waves) Hey!
Tyrone: (Looking at Rochelle) What’s up?
Rochell: (Staring) Nothing much.
Nicole: Tyrone, you’re always playing that song.
Tyrone: (He drops Trea’s hand and pats his boom box. He speaks with a Jamaican accent.) Yeah, it’s my favorite. (Laughing) It wasn’t me, girl.
Calleen: We were talking about
(Pause)
Tyrone: Okay, we’re leaving… we don’t want to stop your flow. (Grabs Trea’s hand) Let’s go girl. (They walk toward the basketball court.) Baby, we’re going to be together forever.
Trea: I don’t know about that. You know… you think… you’re a player.
Tyrone: (Hugging her) That’s my past, but I’m a changed man.
Trea: (Pushes him lightly) You’d better be.
