Alora and the Golden Stone

Alora moved forward into the circular room. There it was, a beautiful crystal stone on a granite based pedestal. It sparkled with life of its own. Slowly, thin  fingers of golden light gave birth from its center. The power of the device seemed limitless. It was almost spiritual in its nature, she would never forget it.

Alora moved closer. Her face felt its warmth, her mind begged to fall into its grasp. She could feel Jen behind and next to her shivering, she looked at the almost  living stone.  She could see the center was a scene of gold it looked like a golden countryside.

“Oh! One more thing,” Amal said.

As Alora turned to face him her long black hair fell off her shoulders and dropped touching the stone. In an instant a flash of sparkling blue light raced through the room, her body was shocked. She watched in slow motion as her hair, then her arm began to turn to sand, then to ash, then to nothing. Not blackness, just nothing.

Then again their bodies reformed. Alora felt her own heart beat. She was Ok! She turned back to see her friends appearing, Katie still holding Smokey in her arms.  Amal was gone.

Amal watched as they dissolved into the past, and finished what he had started to say. “Try not to change the past any more than needed…”
