Sarah Sue Smith lives down the street. Her hair always in curlers; she never looks neat. She's 22 feet, 6 inches tall; hair orange like the sun in late fall. She has 13 crabs, a starfish named May and Wyatt a whale who cooks every day. Her house is quiet grand with a garden out back full of carrots and beets she throws into a sack. Every day she puts on her big yellow hat and goes to the store. Can you imagine that? On Mondays she buys two cans of peas, one dozen eggs and a block of white cheese. Tuesdays and Thursdays she buys a pear, long curly noodles and a flower for her hair. On Wednesdays and Fridays, this isn't a lie, she buys one slice of warm apple pie. Saturdays are oranges, lemons and limes. Sundays she shops 32 times! And Sunday afternoons at quarter past four we start showing up at Sarah Sue's door.

About the Book
Crooked Wharf is a collection of original children's stories written by Tara Rebal and illustrated by Frank Sarcia. In the first Crooked Wharf underwater adventure, meet Sarah Sue Smith an odd-looking octopus with bright orange hair filled with curlers! She has 15 pets including Wyatt a whale who is a great cook. Every day Sarah goes to the grocery store, but on Sunday she makes 32 trips to stock up on lots of food. That's because on Sunday afternoons Sarah has all of her friends over for dinner. Wyatt and his brother Matthew cook everyone's favorite dishes;11 different dishes to be exact. At the end of the night, the friends play a game of trivia, but not until they help clean up the kitchen. Enjoy this lighthearted story of friendship.

TARA REBAL – Tara is a former 6th grade reading teacher. Besides her love of the written word, Tara enjoys spending time outdoors. She loves to hike, snowshoe and downhill ski. She is currently training for her first 1/2 marathon. FRANK SARCIA – Frank is a professional graphic designer. Besides his profound enthusiasm for art, Frank is an avid collector of vintage 60s, 70s and 80s toys. His favorite toys include H.R. Pufnstuf, and original Planet of the Apes and Kiss memorabilia.
