About the Author

Nate Booker was born Nathaniel A. Booker, he is a retired IT Instructor and Correctional Officer. He graduated from Lake Clifton/ Eastern High School in 1989. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and 3 kids. This is his first book. Nate has been writing poetry since he was a young child, though for him it was a means to express the pain and hurt that seemed to fill his life. He was a victim of physical, sexual, mental and emotional abuse. His writings cover many subjects though almost always as a means to escape the reality of his life. He grew up as a Ward of the State of Maryland and always felt alone even when he wasn't. For Nate, writing and sharing his poetry was a means of validating himself and stepping out from the shadows that life seemed to cast upon him and he did just that! He writes with the hope of exposing abuse in all of its forms as well as the abusers. For the victims, this book is a dedication to you so that you know that you are not alone. It is because of your suffering that Nate shares his poetry because he was able to rise above his own suffering. The title of this book, his first, is his own battle cry, "...And My Soul Cried Out!" This book is dedicated to everyone who has ever suffered from any form of abuse, now you don't have to cry inside.
