This is the auto-biographical story of someone who started betting on horse racing at a very early age and became what can only be called an addict. It is both sad and funny. It takes the reader on a fifty-something years journey of the experiences of a self confessed loser. His "Holy Grail" was to beat the bookies at their own game and make a small fortune in the process. A wise man once said, "The only way to make a small fortune out of playing the horses, is to start out with a large one."

The author is a former soldier who spent most of his life as a mug-punter(professional loser). He started gambling at an early age and continued doing so until he "learned some sense" at age sixty-nine.
