The Evolution of Dr. Steve Pratt

The Evolution of Dr. Steve Pratt Sarah wasn’t afraid for herself any longer, but now was afraid for Steve’s life. The last thing she wanted was to put Steve in danger; he’d done nothing but try and help her from the first moment that he saw her. Sarah did as Jake told her. Steve opened the front door and entered his house, and there directly in front of him was Sarah with her husband behind her with a gun pointed at her head. Steve, seeing this, dropped everything in his hands, and Steve looked at Sarah with her bandages soaked from tears and sweat. He also noticed a thin line of blood running down the inside of her leg; he guessed that the monster had raped her. Steve also noticed the crazed look in his eyes. Steve thought this could be dangerous for all involved. Just as Steve was gathering his thoughts, Sarah’s husband spoke, “I don’t know why you’ve wasted your time with Sarah. There’s only one man for her, and that man is me.” Steve was careful about his response and said, “I can see that now. I can see how much you mean to her. As far as I’m concerned, she’s all yours.” Jake was somewhat taken back by Steve’s statement. This wasn’t how his rehearsal was supposed to go. “In fact, I really don’t even like her; I was just looking after her medically.” Again, Jake looked perplexed, and Steve slowly started to approach them, forcing both of them backwards more toward the middle of the living room. Jake yelled at Steve to stop and Steve did as he was told. “Why don’t you put the gun down and you and Sarah can leave peacefully.” Jake hesitated, then lowered the gun somewhat and, before anybody could make another move, Steve rushed Jake, and Sarah tried to get out of the way. Jake’s grip on the gun and on Sarah was strong, and all three wrestled around on the living room floor, then the gun went off four or five times. Then there was silence; nothing moved in the house.
