About the Book

This story takes place in the southern part of India. Elephant Krishna is taken to a temple feast, but on the way to the feast, disaster strikes. Through a series of dramatic events, Krishna finds himself caught in between his money-hungry owner and the island children who have fallen in love with him. This simple story reveals to the reader a different level of love, leadership, and community.


About the Author

Dr. Kodiath founded the College of Geriatric in 1988. Through his training programs he has achieved remarkable results in accelerating the quality of life for residents within Skilled Nursing Facilities in San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles counties. Dr. Kodiath has worked over twenty years in Long Term Care. After his studies at Boston College and completing his Doctoral studies at the University of San Diego he focused on elder care. As an educator and consultant he has made very significant improvements in providing quality care for residents in Skilled Nursing Facilities. Training and certification programs became a major part of his consulting because he believes that when the staff receives the best information, the quality of care for the residents will improve. For the past twenty years Dr. Kodiath has conducted hundreds of seminars, in-services, and workshops for employees of SNF. He has been a pioneer in developing the Social Service Department in SNFs. Dr. Kodiath is the chairperson for the Bio-medical Ethics Committees in sixteen nursing homes. He has developed a Social Service Handbook for the long term care facilities. Dr. Kodiath and his wife founded a nonprofit organization named, Samarpan. Samarpan has established clinics, Library, Education Centers, and Job Training Centers in India. At present he is the Executive Director of Samarpan Spiritual Leadership Center in Alpine, California. Dr. Kodiath has also taken a special interest in assisting to improve the education of Native Americans. He has worked with Mother Theresa’s Institutions and has brought hope and care to the poor in Tijuana, Mexico and Kerala, India. In 2000 and 2001 Dr. Kodiath received Peace Awards for his humanitarian work. Lions Club International also bestowed upon him the Melvin Jones Award. He also received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the City of Poway. For the past five years he had been the guest speaker on Leadership for graduate nursing students at the CAL State Fullerton University. He has licensing and certification for life to teach in the State Community Colleges in philosophy and Business Administration. He has been an instructor in providing continuing education hours to Nursing Home Administrators and Registered Nurses.
