About the Book

A young South Yorkshire journalist, Mark Widdowson is sent by his editor to follow a developing story in an ex mining village called Edlington. The woman at the centre of the action is one Jess Jennings, born and bred in the village, a hairdresser and now dubbed revolutionary, agitator, healer, prophet, even guru! Beginning with mild curiosity and leading to near obsession Mark is drawn deeper and deeper into the strange phenomenon that is Jess, a journey that takes him from South Yorkshire to the Peak District, Harrogate, Birmingham, and to a final incredible denouement in the Capital.

About the Author

Adrian G R Scott was raised in South Yorkshire; at the age of twenty he had a powerful religious experience whilst working in a clothes store in Sheffield. It catapulted him into the Church, and five years training for the Roman Catholic Priesthood. Before ordination he realised that institutional Christianity was not for him. He married Wilma and found work as a community development worker, in East London helping local people deal with the imposition of Canary Wharf. Studying for a Masters in Organization Development and moving back to Sheffield led to his working across South Yorkshire with people suffering the effects of post industrial depression. Always simmering in the background of his life was an urge to write and this has finally come to the foreground as his primary vocation, he published a first collection of Poetry ‘The Call of the Unwritten’ in 2011. He began ‘The Mark Widdowson Blogs’ as a private reflection on the Gospel of Mark and then he recognized he was onto something as the story and reality began to mirror one another.
