Miss Liberty Miss Liberty yields to all of her lovers— Not spoiled by sharing, her gift goes to each. Men who in vain would debauch her discover No lust for life can her maidenhead breach. The runner in man, he chases her while She flees just to keep his heart pacing, then slows. Should he catch her in laughter and dreams or by barter, She’ll take him wherever his happiness goes. For fresh in perpetual spring she shines, Ever available; And in safety protected by reason reclines, Unassailable. He who has won himself Liberty’s charms Defends his first love With unyieldingly jealous, Tenaciously violent Arms.

About the Book
An initial reading of this collection could suggest that primarily hate motivates these writings. Further thought may generate the question: what is hated? The answer is that the author hates what threatens what he loves. Then it is seen that love is really the underlying motive. Expressing sometimes belligerent tones, these outspoken, mostly rhyming verse-poems may reinforce and gladden some of the personal sentiments of those who value fighting for the West.
