About the Author

Dr. Katherine E. James holds an undergraduate degree in family life education from Spring Arbor University, a graduate degree in pastoral counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary, a graduate degree in instructional design from Western Governor’s University and PhD in educational psychology from Walden University. She is a licensed professional counselor, through the state of Michigan. As an educator and professional with a passion for the transformation of lives, Dr. James is the executive director of Empowering IFR Therapeutic Services, an adjunct instructor at Spring Arbor University, an adjunct faculty professional fellow at Ashland Theological Seminary and a student academic adviser at Wayne County Community College District. Additionally, she is active in many aspects of her hometown Community. Personally, she is a woman of faith who believes in worship as a way of life. She serves as an associate pastor at Shiloh Deliverance Church International in Detroit. Dr. James resides in Detroit with her husband of 33 years. Together they have a 28-year-old son and recently gained a daughter through marriage. Dr. Katherine E. James treasures healthy interpersonal relationships and embraces family as larger than that limited to blood and marital ties. She holds a personal philosophy that people are precious (PAP), believing in the preciousness of all humans regardless. It is from this vantage that she endeavors to live.
