About the Book
Hoosier Poems is a book about the life of the author as he lived in and around Bloomington, Ellettsville, Gosport, Stinesville, and Spencer, Indiana. Many of the verses are reflections on his early childhood. The barn on the front cover of this book depicts where he played, worked and grew up from 1946 to 1964.
Other rhymes, such as memory epics in this volume, tell of his forty-seven-year preaching career, his forty-seven-year marriage to his wife Jane, and memories of rearing their family.
Inspirational poems were written as the poet was inspired by a church service, a sunset, a roaring sea, or a calm pond.

About the Author
This is a volume of poetry that contains both rhyme and rhythm. It is based on the life of the author, born 1946 in Bloomington, Indiana. Other than three years out of state, now at age 67, he has lived and worked in southern Indiana.
A graduate of Spencer High School in 1964 he attended both Indiana State University in Terre Haute and Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida.
He began part-time preaching in 1966 and full-time in 1968. He married his childhood sweetheart (Janeann Van Buskirk) in 1967; and from that time have had 47 years together.
Mr. Fiscus has worked at gas stations, grocery stores, a meat processing plant, sold new and used cars, rented band instruments to students, gave music lessons, farmed, and hauled livestock. He has run for public office; been president of the local Chamber of Commerce two times; served as District Governor for Lions International; has served on the Membership Board of the National Cattleman’s Beef Association and was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash honor under the late Governor Frank O’Bannon.
Gary is a Hoosier. This work is written for those wanting to know just what that means.
