The Black Side of the Fence is a book spanning over twenty years of her life experiences.


About the Author

South Bend, Indiana, native, Myrtha attended Indiana University at South Bend, majoring in journalism and creative writing. While there, she was a reporter for the IUSB newspaper, The Preface. She went on to become the editor of the South Bend Communicator News, a community African American newspaper for eight years, volunteering her time in exchange for the experience in writing. She has appeared on local media programs such as the Michiana Television Show and the Rod Johnson Radio Program, showcasing her poetry. Poetry readings performed for Head Start Talent Show and various community organizations for several years as a twenty-year volunteer was her specialty.

Myrtha wrote thematic poems throughout her local community and as president of the poetry guild at Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ.

Myrtha entered Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, in 2004, obtaining a liberal studies degree with a concentration in writing, communication, and human services in December 2007, completing a lifelong dream at the age of fifty-eight years. Myrtha is currently attending Jones International University for her masters in Business Communications / Project Management at the age of sixty-five.
