I'm Called to Preach Now What!

Preachers stare at a blank sheet of paper, a blank computer screen, an IPad or Andriod Tablet weekly pondering what they should say or better yet where do they begin? This is where I found myself when I was called to preach at the tender age of eighteen facing my first sermon (this was fourteen years ago). This is the reason why I have decided to create this practical users guide for preachers to use as a walk through to help establish foundations, fundamentals and features of sound sermonic structure, while pointing them towards a more efficient methodology of sermon preparation. If we were to make an honest observation of a preacher’s homiletic vitals, we would find that most were ill prepared cognitively to develop theologically sound and spirit-filled sermons. This is evident when you have heard a preacher read a text publicly but never return to that text to effectively interpret the text. There are preachers that have misinformed other clergy by advising them (knowingly or unknowingly) to just stand up and tell the story, or how about the old adage open up your mouth and the Lord will give you what to say. I feel no dissonance informing you that it’s not going to happen! You need the guidance of the Holy Spirit along with a methodology or a paradigm to assist you in articulating the theme and thesis of a passage in a clarion fashion while conveying thus says the Lord!
