It’s Friday night and the velvet rope is up outside Club Climax. The music was bumping and the party was jumping. She was a red bone wearing a red silk dress made only for her. It hugged every curve and exposed enough to entice the wildest imagination. Her long black hair covered her back, shoulders and half her face to hide the well kept secret only she knew. Every woman’s face wore envy and every man’s face desire. She made her way to the bar and ordered a Crown & 7-up with a twist of lemon. As she finished her drink the bartender sat another in front of her, “compliments of the gentleman sitting at the end of the bar”. She smiled as she raised the glass in acknowledgement of his kind gesture. That was his queue. What is a nice girl like you doing in a place like this? Who said I was a nice girl? Well, just how bad are you? She whispered in his ear an invitation to join her in a moment of pleasure. He sat exhausted like a wild horse, broken into submission. The only sounds remaining were like the panting of wild animals during mating season. The stall door swung open into a crowded men’s room. A look of shock was upon the faces of the men in the room. She exited in the same fashion as she entered, oozing sensuality, leaving every man drooling. In that same stall, he was found dead.

Sex, Secrets & Murder the Chronicles of Red Velvet dives into the life of Sidney Foster, a lonely stay-at-home wife who is stuck in an unfulfilling marriage. Her husband, Jackson Foster, the cofounder of Detroit’s J.Ro (Jay-Row) Records, travels excessively, leaving her home alone. Their next door neighbor, Miles Burns, was always attracted to Sidney and saw an opportunity to make his move. He couldn’t resist the temptation to taste her forbidden fruit, and she let him. He didn’t know he would unleash the woman buried inside her, and life as he knew it would never be the same. She frequents nightclubs and other questionable establishments to indulge in one sexual encounter after another. The problem is, she doesn’t remember any of it. Is it amnesia, blackouts, multiple personalities, or selective memory? A black widow of sorts, she leaves a trail of dead bodies wherever she goes. Life ceases to exist for any man that may cross her path; in fact, they are dying for a taste of Red Velvet.
About the Author
Delisa Y. Jones was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system, graduating from Murray Wright High School, class of 1982. She decided to pursue a career in the US Navy after employment with CBS TV2 Detroit. During her twenty-year career, she traveled the world. She received numerous medals and honors, but her proudest moment was making the transition to chief petty officer. A true poetry connoisseur, she wrote and published Pleasure Pain & Poetry in 2008. She took a hiatus from writing to pursue a second bachelor’s degree. She graduated magna cum laude from Baker College in June 2012. Delisa currently lives in Westland, Michigan. The city of Detroit and the Motown Sound are deeply rooted in her soul.
