About the Book

When a body turns up in mysterious circumstances, in the Scottish Highlands, there are very few clues to the identity of the deceased man: blue overalls and a numbered tattoo on his ankle. Shortly afterwards, another body turns up in the West Country, once again in unexplained circumstances. The dead man was wearing blue overalls and had a numbered tattoo on his ankle. When further violent incidents occur, in a range of locations across the country, Scotland Yard realise they are dealing with a dangerous criminal organisation. The roots of the organisation go back to the 1950s when it was a benign group of peace protesters. But over the years, something has gone horribly wrong.

About the Author

Paul Harland is a semiretired English lecturer who lives with his wife, Denise, in Durham in the northeast of England. He occasionally lectures but regularly tutors and, even more regularly, examines in English literature and English language. But more and more, he is inclined to devote his time to writing. Having decided to eschew Facebook until the oceans of the world dry up and the mountains turn into pumpkins, he has succumbed to the dubious delights of Twitter (harland923paul). This suits his purpose of letting off steam at the insanities of the world, of which he believes there are many, but also having great fun indulging in the wit and wisdom of those people who are worth the effort of following. The Anger Beneath is his second novel. It is a crime thriller and a significant departure from his first novel, A Windfall of Secrets, which was a domestic drama with a twist. He is hopeful that his writings will be enjoyed, and he has embarked on his next project—novel number 3.
