About the Book
This is my second book; I wrote it the same way I’ve written in the past. I’m a simple writer. I write what I feel and what is on my mind. I don’t want to change that because then I won’t be comfortable with what I’m writing. I write about things that I’ve heard about, seen, or experienced personally. I was always taught that poetry was about expression, imagination, and feelings. I’ve tried very hard to capture that in my books. When I see or hear about an incident, I often wonder what brought that person to his or her decision. Then I say, “What would I do if it were me?” Derrick Johnson
About the Author
Derrick Johnson lives in Kentucky with his wife, Sherri, and their two sons, Derrick and Lamichael. His daughter, Kiara, is currently serving in the army and traveling with his granddaughter Kinaya. He grew up on the south side of Chicago in the Englewood area, and then he joined the army as a paratrooper and served for twenty-two years. His tours include the following: Honduras, Korea, Italy, and Iraq. He is a self-taught handyman, stereo installer, and mechanic that worked and traveled to various stateside and overseas locations. Now he is a self-publisher who’s currently on his second book of poetry and short stories. He made people laugh from his first book, “Poetry from a Male Point of View,” which was written about three years ago. The book was free-styled with a little of all the work that he has been writing for the last ten years. This book hopes to show that same style of funny, serious, and romantic poetry that will have you saying, “Wow!” He believes that in today’s society, people have forgotten how to relax and take up a good book by the fire. Hopefully, this book will bring some laughter, joy, and fun back into your life. “I’ve been married for twenty-two years; I love my wife and my family with all my heart. They are my world. We are blessed with a beautiful family, and we are surrounded by great friends. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that you don’t take anything for granted. I want to thank the Lord for blessing me with the courage and the gift to write these books, I pray that he continue to bless me with my health and strength to keep on writing” (Derrick Johnson).
