About the Book
This story was inspired by the author’s grandchildren and is partially based on their many daily activities. Nature plays a significant role in the unfolding of many of these events. They, like the characters in this story, have found we can all learn from each other. The Happy Pattern Road shows how we learn from following a pattern and the charm and beautify of learning from those around us. The story demonstrates the bond of friendship and togetherness that exists among nature’s animals and the people around them. Readers will be emotionally moved by the events that occur when the mother and father deer and their fawns and the mother and father Canada geese and their goslings go for a stroll in the beautiful green meadows. They soon come upon the Happy family and their four creative, energetic, growing children. This story colorfully depicts the affable relationship animals have with each other and the warmth and synergy between animals and the people who live nearby. The Happy Pattern Road demonstrates what all of nature can learn from the bounty of those who make up their world. About the Author
Dr. Robert L. Heichberger is professor emeritus at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia and an award-winning author. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the university. He has been a teacher, professor, public school administrator, and university administrator for sixty-five years. He is a popular newspaper columnist. He has worked with thousands of students of all ages, from primary school students to graduate students. Schools and libraries invite him to read or tell stories to children; he is often invited for a return engagement. Later, these same young children often invite Dr. Heichberger to be their high school commencement speaker. He is also a popular keynote and motivational speaker. His wife, Elaine, is a retired teacher and musician. They have two grown children and six grandchildren. His grandchildren inspired him in the writing of his children’s books. Dr. Heichberger’s major interests are his family, his church, his country, and several thousand students with whom he has worked over these past many years. His motto throughout life has been, “Do unto others what you have others do unto you.”
