About the Book

Renji Saratobi has just transferred into a new high school and is struggling to see colour in his dark world. One day while on his way to school, he trips, hits his face on a street sign, and falls to the ground. After he sees a girl with pink hair gazing down at him, he believes she is an angel sent to remind him that all is going to be okay. Unfortunately, Aisuru Ganko does not seem to feel the same way.

After a violent fight with his alcoholic mother, a visibly injured Renji begins knocking on the doors of houses in his neighbourhood. When his quest for help leads him to Aisuru’s house, she reluctantly lets him in and offers comfort. But she has no idea that Renji is also dealing with mental trauma related to his brother’s untimely death and an absentee father. He is desperately trying to find a reason to go on. Will he ever find his way out of the darkness or will Aisuru be able to help?

In this moving story, a teenager struggling to fit in at a new high school and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles at home meets a girl who changes everything.

About the Author

Kyle Scarry was born and raised in Glasgow. His writing is inspired by his love of the nature and history of Japan. Love Only Blossoms Once Every Autumn is his first novel.
