About the Book
Betty and her puppy brothers and sisters are born to be snow dogs. From a very young age, Betty knows this and dreams of being on a sled team, one day racing in the famous Iditarod across Alaska. This is no easy accomplishment, but Betty is dedicated to her dream. Betty grows up and becomes strong and calm, happy to be a wheel dog and close to her musher, Catherine. The dogs train together and prepare for the race. Eventually, they are ready for the Iditarod. They might not win, but along with her siblings, Betty has learned that the most important thing is to do your best. After the race, Betty and her team go to the Wyoming Stage Stop Race, where Betty meets a young girl named Marie. Catherine has watched Betty’s behavior and understands that Betty would rather be a pet now that her dream has come true. Betty goes to live with her new family and begins a wonderful new life.
