The story I am telling goes back forty-two years ago. The year was 1957, I was six years old I remember. I was one of five children. My parents had four boys and a girl. My oldest brother, Randy, had a different father than us, but he was loved just as much. Paul and Gene were my other two older brothers. Rosie, my only sister, was four years old at that time. All of us lived in a small house with the roof completely made of tin. This tin roof house was so hot in the summer, you could not stay inside doing the summer months. When it would rain it sounded like rocks falling onto the tin roof house. We needed buckets every place to catch the rain that found ways to enter this roof.

About the Book
This book is about a black family's life in the 1950's and how they enjoyed life on a farm as kids. This book also tells of the adventure that accrued with the children, as well as the danger ever present on this farm. The things people take for granted today would be luxury items back in the fifties such as outside toilets and spring water compared to modern-day indoor plumbing and running water in every part of the house. Experience was the school for children in the 1950's and this was not a bad thing. In those days, people learned what was life threatening and what was not. The author feels this short story is inspiring and inspirational. The author's parents are both deceased and this story is in memory of them, with love and honor
