This is a particularly bad day, but not through any fault of nature. The sun is shining and the birds are singing, but it’s a bad day.
Hate is an evil thing. It grows and swells until it takes on a life of its own. It is unceasingly powerful and all consuming. I have seen hate up close and it has an ugly face. Now, I find myself engulfed with it. How can I ever rid myself of this evil being that dwells within me?
Standing in front of my mother’s grave, my mind starts to drift back to yesterday. How I wish I had paid attention to the details. That has been my downfall: details. As far back as I can remember, children have teased me about my blue eyes. If I had been born white, they would have been a blessing, but almost white is another matter. Why is it that when a Negro mixes with a white, the offspring is considered a black and never just a plain human being? Both races are at fault. Damn, maybe the whole world is.
I don’t remember much about Voodoo in those early days, just some basic names that were mentioned such as "Voodoo", "hoodoo", and "hojo". Clearing some cobwebs from my mind, I can vaguely remember an open fire, some chants, and some strange smells. I was too young to understand what was going on in most of those instances. I wish today that I didn’t know as much as I do, life would be much simpler and my mind might think as one person instead of two.

Voodoo: reality or myth? Tyrone is faced with this question repeatedly. Multiple seductions and betrayal lead him into becoming a willing participant in a deadly game. His educated mind takes an analytical approach to all that is happening to him, but in this case, two plus two never add up to four; they always add up to the Nth (unknown) number.
This text is not written about Tyrone, but looking through Tyrone's eyes and thinking with his mind, no matter what alterations his thinking may undergo. Circumstances that seem to be one thing often turn out to be another. Due to the extraordinary state of affairs surrounding him, everything in his life must be analyzed, sorted, and filtered through his mind to try to find out the real truth, which for him is not always apparent.
About the Author
The author of this strange book is Paul W. Daniels. He writes in a variety of genres and has written seven books and numerous poems as of this date, all being a credit to the art of the novelist. Some of these books are filled with short stories and poetry; others are full-length novels that have been published and are still on the market at this writing. The only hope of the author is that the reader enjoys this book moment to moment as it unfolds.
Paul is a world traveler. He uses his insight and experience to write for the pleasure of others. He would like to be portrayed, not for any physical differences, but for the obvious literary differences between him and other authors.
Like any good product, Paul feels that the subject has to be original, and looks at writing as something to be molded, along with paying particular attention to the mold itself. He feels that when forming a story, everything surrounding it has to be considered and eventually converge into an ending with a surprising, unpredictable twist.
