There Is Rest For The Weary "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30). Millions of people around the world are carrying heavy burdens that God never intended for one person or one family to carry. Some of you are trying in your own strength to hold a family together, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. Some of you are trying to hold yourselves together with very little success. And in either case, the chore has weighed you down to the point of mental, physical, and spiritual exhaustion. You have grown weary from your burdens. Christ says that He wants you to take His yoke upon you and learn from Him. First of all, the work "yoke" is defined as an arched frame fitted to a defeated person's shoulders to carry a heavy load. During the time of Christ, a wooden arched bar frame was placed on the necks of oxen for pulling heavy loads. We as individuals in this day and age have placed an invisible yoke on our own necks that has left us weary. It could be that we have set our goals, dreams and expectations, so high that it has left us emotionally, physically and spiritually bankrupt. Well Christ says, take off your heavy yoke and place His yoke upon you. He said that by doing so, "you will find rest for your souls." Whatever you're trying to carry today, let it go and give it to Christ. Replace your yoke with His yoke. He said "His yoke is easy and His burden is light." Say today, "Lord I give you my yoke and I replace it with yours." Trust God to take care of your burdens and find rest for your weary soul by placing Christ at the center of your life. By so doing, you will find rest for your weary soul. Do it now. Do it today. BY GOD'S GRACE, YOU WILL PREVAIL "Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I Will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand" (Isaiah 41:10 TLB) I don't know what you're going through, but by God's grace, you will prevail! Just like Israel, our protection from enemies, adversity, and opposition comes from God. It was God who said to Israel, "you are mine, my chosen ones; for you are Abraham's family, and he was my friend" (Isaiah 41:8). It was God who chose us through Abraham's seed with the seed being Christ (read Gal. 3:16). Therefore, since we through the Messiah bask in the eternal blessings made to Abraham (read Gen. 12:1-4), we like Israel have nothing to fear as servants of the Lord as we walk by faith in the promises of God. We have nothing to fear with God on our side. That is why God says, "Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed (or discouraged). I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand" (Is. 41:10). This is the promise that God makes to His witnesses and His servants. He further states to His chosen, "You are my witnesses and my servants, chosen to know and to believe me and to understand that I alone am God. There is no other God; there never was and never will be. I am the Lord, and there is no other Savior" (Is. 43:10,11 TLB). Over the next few days, meditate on this Scripture, memorize this Scripture, and act on this Scripture. For God is saying that no matter how bad your problem may appear, you have no need to fear. We are not to be discouraged by setbacks. We are not to be overwhelmed by our inability and weakness knowing that when and where we are weak, God is strong. We are to understand that God will strengthen and help us; that God promises to hold us up and make us adequate for any situation, Therefore, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you have it in you to meet any and all responsibilities to do the will of God. And guess what? By the grace of God, you will prevail!

About the Book
This book would never have happened if it were not
for an old co-worker whom I was trying to disciple after leading him to saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ in 1991. He
just walked into my office one day after work and said, “I want to be saved,
and I want you to show me how.” Well
after his conversion, I knew that my number one priority at work was to be
diligent in my work. However, with
e-mail arriving in its infancy, I made up my mind that I would disciple Ken
Summers in the things of God in a very practical manner. I would write him a devotional that I
expected him to read on a daily basis.
When people would come around to his desk, they
would see these devotional e-mails stacked in a pile. They asked Ken if I would add them to my e-mail list. Two people turned into three people. Three people went to ten people. Ten people went to twenty people. And the list kept growing and growing and
growing. It has grown so much over the
years that Words To Live By is now
received by people on four continents.
It was this ministry that allowed me to see that God
had given me a gift in exhorting people in practical ways from a biblical
perspective in helping them grow in their spiritual walk with Him. Without the resources to pay an editor to
edit this work, you may find a typo here and there, but the spirit of the
messages will still have an inspirational impact on your soul if you’ll open
your heart to this truth.
But I believe that if you read these words
carefully, the Holy Spirit will use them to inspire you to a new level of
maturity and commitment in Christ.
These words will help you in your marriage, your single life, your work
life, your education, and even your career if you will open yourself up to what
they have to say to your soul. They
truly are inspiration for the soul. If
just one these words touches your soul for the glory of God, I have
accomplished what I set out to do: to impact your life for Christ.

thanks to my wife who has been exhorting me for years to actually publish these
