"My Baby Daughter"
My wife and I went to the hospital. Annie was born 8:30PM on Friday evening. Sam was waiting outside in the waiting room with his grandparents. The nurse called them and she asked them to come in to congratulate my wife and to see Annie. I needed all support I could get from my parents and especially from my son, Sam. Sam was 7 years old. Annie was lying next to her mother in bed. I kept looking at Annie, who was so beautiful. I asked my wife if I could hold her. I sat on the chair holding her very tightly. I was afraid she would slip from my arms. You are my sunshine, I whispered. Sam was waiting for his turn to hold her. He opened his arms and told me, "Dad, can I hold my little sister?" I bent toward him and I placed her on his arms. He said, "I love her, Dad." I said, "I love her, too." Those words came out of me without thinking or planning. They were exactly how I felt. I looked at the flowers and I thought of the kindness of our neighbors and relatives. My small world is a big place for me.
In the beginning we were crushed with the reality of Annie’s disability. But we, very soon, began to realize we needed Annie as much as she needed us! We found out we were living for a higher purpose. We understood it was not a sin to have a handicapped child. She seemed to travel away while we were touching her. Parenthood doesn’t stop, physically or mentally, when the child leaves home. God is there whenever we need him. We were changed from one day to the next. We stopped thinking of ourselves as the center of the universe, because we realized we are imperfect tiny creatures with big fragile hearts. I changed from a man, who used to look at the mirror and saw a perfect man to a man who sees that his imperfection is perfected when he embraces the others’ imperfection. My daughter, Annie, was growing and we were growing, too. I couldn’t teach her to read or write but I gave her something from the depth of my heart, I gave her love.

The short stories and the minute plays combine fictional drama, humor, philosophy, and sci-fi. The book is about the passion people have for one another, their appreciation they share for the present, and their dreams they live in the future. It is about feelings, hopes, disappointments, imagination to conquer the future, and the complexities of our time.
About the Author
I learned from an early age to appreciate life and the people around me. When I arrived in the United States of America I decided to live in New York. Although, Dundalk was my second choice, it was my destination! The Historic Dundalk and the people of Dundalk fascinated me. Trees on both sides hugged Dundalk Avenue, which I truly loved. In Dundalk, I met friendly people; and I met my wife who inspired me to write this book. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of the State of New York, Regents College, and a Master of Business Administration Degree from City University. Through the years I wrote, poetry, short stories and minute plays, and thoughts on religion and philosophy. At the intersections of Dundalk Avenue: A Collection of Short Stories and Minute Plays is my second book, which the 1st Books Library has published for me. My first book was The Triune God: Philosophical Concepts and Facts.
