300 hundred years ago Sir Isaac Newton gave us our first clue as to how our Universe was shaped when he formulated the laws of gravity; however, it was Albert Einstein who established the astonishing facts of our Universe. He showed that the dimensions of time, space, and matter are ever changing, depending solely upon the position of the observer. The only never changing constant in our Universe is the speed of light, about 300 million meters per second (in a vacuum). Experiments later showed, as Einstein predicted, that the faster one travels with respect to another object of observer, the slower time passes relative to the time passage of a stationary observer.
If the speedy traveler accelerates to the speed of light (the maximum speed possible in our Universe), then time completely ceases to flow and all events are compressed, into an unending NOW. The timeless eternity of the theologian has become a law of physics, called Relativity. Our first impression is that this is an astonishing new idea. It is not. The Bible implies this in the explicit four letters of the Hebrew name of God in Exodus 3:14. These letters spelled out the Hebrew verb "to be" in three tenses of past, present and future. God's name literally means, "I was, I am, I will be". We are told this by the great Hebrew scholar, Nahmanides (1250), who was commenting on Exodus 7-10. It is not an accident that creation of light was the first step in creating the Universe, since light (radiation) can step out of the realm of energy and change into matter. When that happens, it enters into the measurable world of time and space following Einstein's famous equation of e=mc2.

About the Author
Who is Paul Garnett? Paul Garnett received his education at several universities here in the United States; however, he completed his graduate study in the field of Human Behavior at Oxford University, England. Dr. Garnett founded and was Director of the first Montessori school in the State of Oregon and then went on to establish three other Montessori schools before he moved to the Hawaii State Department of Education. In Hawaii, he developed a non-verbal IQ test for individuals who do not speak Standard English. He also wrote a text now being widely used throughout America and Canada, entitled: Investigating Morals and Ethics in Today's Society (Simon & Schuster 1987). Upon retirement from the Hawaii State Department of Education, Dr. Garnett and his wife Anna were called by the International Mission Board (Southern Baptist Convention) to serve in Japan, Belgium, and Germany. They have four children and four grandchildren . . . so far. He now travels, presenting seminars to schools, churches, and other interested groups, regarding his latest book, Science and the Judeo-Christian Doctrine of Creation.
