The Israel That Can Say No to Self-Annihilation

The book addresses the following fundamental question: 'How shall Israel proceed in a region where the complete annihilation of the Jews is immutably synonimous with the so called 'liberation of Palestine'?

Dr. Isaac Elishakoff is Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Professor of Mathematics in the College of Science, in Florida (since 1989). He was born in the Republic of Georgia, former Soviet Union. He received his Ph.D. from Moscow Power Engineering Institute & Technical University in 1971. In 1972 he emigrated (made Aliah) to Israel. Dr. Elishakoff served as Professor at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and Naval Postgraduate School in the USA. In 1985-86 he was an inaugural holder of the Frank Freimann Visiting Chair Professorship and then was an inaugural holder of Henry Massman Visiting Chair Professorship, at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA. In 1992 he served as Visiting Castigliano Distinguished Professor at the University of Palermo, Italy. Dr. Elishakoff is a General Editor of Studies in the Applied Mechanics series in Elsevier Science Publishing Company, Associate Editor of 'Applied Mechanics Reviews"; "Chaos, Solitons & Fractals"; and 'International Journal of Mechanics of Machines and Structures.' He is on the editorial boards of "Journal of Sound and Vibration", "Computers and Structures", "Shock and Vibration Digest", and "International Journal for Dynamics and Stability." Dr. I. Elishakoff authored or co-authored five books, published by John Wiley and Sons 1983; Dover Publications 1999; Cambridge University Press 2000; Technomic 1992; and Elsevier Science Publishers in 1990 and in 1994. He co-edited eleven volumes and published over 250 scientific papers and has lectured worldwide at more than 150 international conferences. His scientific work has been supported by National Science Foundation, National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research, amongst others. He is a Fellow of American Academy of Mechanics, and a Fellow of the Japan Society of Promotion of Science. In 1996 he has been appointed ASME Distinguished Lecturer. He lectured widely in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia as a contributing, invited or keynote speaker.
