About the Book

Tragedy invades Marna’s life, then violence when she is attacked while jogging, falls into the Atlantic, and is rescued by men from a schooner no one else has seen nor heard of. Life takes a corner as a chance discovery of documents and letters, long dust covered in her attic, reveal reference to the same vessel and crew.

From that point, forces from a level of reality beyond time and space project her consciousness onto a transiting time plane, which carries her through the period of America’s war for independence. There, she eventually commands a privateering schooner and does battle with an English man o’ war carrying a cargo, which can alter history and result in the banner of Britannia to continue flying over America to this day.

About the Author

Bert Howe is a veteran of World War II and has been married to his wife Jean for 47 years. In addition to years as a high-tech salesman, he has been a schoolteacher, builder, farmer, and woodsman. When in their fifties, Bert and Jean carved a homestead and farm out of a wilderness and lived much as did the early settlers in Maine who inspired much of Echo Horizon. Bert lives today with Jean in Boothbay, ME and enjoys four young people, five grandchildren, and a great grandchild. The sea and the mountains are as much their home as the tranquil wooded area in which their homey Cape Cod dwelling sits. Wildlife, plants, hiking, and traveling occupy much of their time.
