Three Blocks Down One Block Over

As the sun began to touch the sea, Josh picked an orchid and placed it in Mary's hair. She held him close while he did this and they kissed for a long time. He took Mary over to the edge of the not too steep cliff where she could see the surf pounding against the rocks below. The white foam and spray showed as a contrast against the turquoise and dark blue of the sea. A rainbow formed over the rocks below. They stood there watching the sun disappear into the sea. The sky turned to gold with shades of yellow that set the back ground for the lavenders and purples. It all fell against the background of fading blue. The bottom of the clouds sparkled with yellow and gold. Soon the sea was sparkling like gold. The movement of the waves made it shimmer. Josh stood behind Mary with his arms around her. She was leaning back against him for support. No words were spoken. It was a magical moment, the rustling of the wind in the palm trees, the sound of the waves as they broke over the rocks below, the smell of the wild flowers, and two lovers holding each other.

Josh had never held anyone like this before. He could smell the sweet fragrance of Mary's perfume. He held her tightly. He could feel her body against his, as the skirt from her sarong was blowing gently against his bare legs. They watched until the sun disappeared beneath the waves and took the gold with it. Suddenly millions of stars appeared. The sea began to sparkle as each wave and ripple on the surface cast the reflection of the heavenly sky. They were so bright they lit up the night.

Mary turned to Josh, placed both hands around his neck, and said, "Josh, make time stop! Let's stay this way forever. I don't want this moment to end. Josh, would it be wrong for a wife who loves her husband to tell him that she wants him to make love to her?"

"No Mary, a husband would be thrilled! He wants to hear that his wife loves him."

Josh reached down and lifted Mary up high; her face was buried into his neck. He carried her over to the pallet by the jeep. All of the stars in the heavens winked and sparkled all through the night.

"Joshua, I will remember this night forever!"

After a while Josh produced some wood from the jeep and built a small fire because the soft breeze from the sea was chilly. There was no one but them. It was so quiet, so peaceful.

"I can't think of anything else that could make it any better. I didn't know two people could love each other so much," said Mary.
