The Gift of Love

I have learned a lot about love and life. Before my injury I was an in and out man, I didn’t know anything about love and being loved, the things I was doing I thought was love but lack of knowledge is what it was.

After all is said and done, life must go on so I decided to go out and meet someone to love and someone to love me. I knew that was going to be an up hill battle because of my medical problem. A woman doesn’t want a man with medical problems; but in my opinion, we all have some kind of problem. So much for that medical decision. I need to find some place to go so I can find someone to love. I am going to find a nice club to visit, even though I haven’t been inside a club in six years.

I decided to get dress and hit the road. I know there is a nice lady in some of these clubs, and I was going to find her.

I went in a place called the club of love, as I got out of my car and went into the club I saw so many ladies. As I made my way through the crowd I saw three ladies sitting at the bar, one of the ladies winked at me and I smiled at her. As I moved through the crowd another lady said, "hello good looking", once again I smiled and continued on my way.

As I was walking and looking around, I accidentally bumped into a beautiful woman. After I bumped into her, she rubbed my arm and said, "I am sorry for bumping into you."

I said, "No it’s my fault."

The lady said, "Okay."

I smiled and said, "So much for that."

She looked at me and said, "Would you like some company?"

I said, "How can I refuse."

She asked, "Can I buy you a drink?"

I said, "I don’t drink."

Then she asked, "What are you doing here?"

And I said, "Looking for someone to love and someone to love me."

She smiled and said, "You mean you are looking for someone to go to bed with."

I replied, "No I am looking for someone to love."

She looked puzzled and she said, "I haven’t heard that one before; men and women go to clubs looking for a one night stand."

My replied to that was, "Not me."

She said, "You are crazy."

I asked, "Why?"

And she told me, "Because men don’t usually talk like that."

I said, "I can’t speak for other men." I thought to myself, so far so good.

I asked her if I could buy her a drink.

And she said, "No thank you, I don’t drink, but you can dance with me."

I said, "I’m sorry but I left both of my legs at home."

Then she started to laugh and said, "You can’t dance?"

I said, "In my opinion, I’m a very good dancer but, I have a bad back and when I move around to much my back and leg hurt."

Then she said, "I am sorry."

I smiled and said, "Don’t be, that’s life, and life goes on."

She said, "Yes it does."

I asked the lady, "What is your name?"

And she said, "Love Lavoe."
