About the Author

Marilyn M. Burgess was raised on the south side of Chicago in Illinois where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Illinois. She co-facilitated a G.E.D. program for ex-offenders and later counseled children with a spectrum of underlying issues.

An inspired writer of many talents, Marilyn M. Burgess birthed the art of writing in the early eighties as a hobby and later utilized her writing talent actively in the early nineties. In 1997, she was a qualified candidate to enroll in the Long Ridge Writers Group. Her poems have been in contests through the National Library of Poetry. Throughout the years of writing, her poetry and essays derived from music arrangements. Several poems such as "Black Sensuous Man," "Sister, Sister," "Be Encouraged," and "Delicious Delight" have been orally performed to receiving standing ovations.
