About the Book

The environmentalist Brooke Lear . . .

Her mentor, Chief of Detectives Milton Hamilton . . .

Their project . . .

Drain a secluded lake in a seemingly quiet town in upstate New York . . .

To unearth nine homemade coffins.

Nine coffins that contain the bodies of nine mutilated children. Teenagers who Brooke had once been acquainted with and who had been reported missing from two local juvenile detention centers. One of which Brooke herself had attended.

Overwhelming evidence leads Det. Hamilton to a famous nearby bakery and its matronly owner. A bakery Brooke had worked for at one time in her youth, and a woman she had once been very close to.

With too many personal coincidences for her to ignore, Brooke follows along as Hamilton infiltrates the secrets of the Flying Dutchman Bakery, and exposes a forty-year rampage of violence.

Nine coffins.

And nine young victims.

Victims of torture.

Victims of rape.

Victims of murder.

Victims of a woman Brooke once held dear,

A woman she is, only now, learning the complete truth about.

A terrifying and bone-chilling truth . . .

About the Author

A voracious reader from the time he was strong enough to lift a hardcover, Brian DuBois was inspired to write by the talents of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Robert B. Parker, and James Patterson. For almost two decades, he has written everything from movie reviews to literary criticism.

As a fiction writer, he creates original, vivid, believable characters (though somewhat eccentric and laughable) whom he then "strands" in fresh and inventive situations. DuBois’ goal is to allow these characters to drive his plot forward while he insures that his readers are constantly kept on the edges of their seats, and when they do finally catch their breath, begging for more.

Brian DuBois worked as a waiter and bartender to pay for his education and ultimately graduated from Rutgers University-Camden in 1995 with a B.A. in English Language and Literature, and then from Rowan University in 1998 with a Certification in Secondary Education.

He is currently teaching English and Creative Writing at Delsea Regional High School in Franklinville, New Jersey.

He resides in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, with his wife, Randi, and their daughter, Hannah.
