Skyler was afraid and paralyzed with fear. She hoped that the man didn't notice her laying in bed looking out the door in the hallway. The chanting became louder and more intense as a voice said, "I command your soul to raise from the dead and be greeted by my Lord Satan." The footsteps got louder as the man began walking back and forth in the hallway like he was confused. All of the sudden, just as quickly as it started, the chanting stopped. Jean was aiming to kill everyone at the table, starting with the bitch Pat for having the nerve to put her hands in her face. Then the others just because they were the bitches friends. While Jean emptied her .45, Esta's man was running back from their apartment with his gun. He fired at Jean, hitting her in the left side of her breast, she died instantly. It was approximately 4:00 a.m. when she died.

Between Heaven and Hell is a 21st Century version of the hardships of the streets, controversies caused by different religious beliefs in the household, sexuality, and the byproduct of living by the credo: "When you live by the sword – you die by the sword."
Through the darkness of the journey, one may learn there is a light at the end of the tunnel and the beginning of a new Renaissance.
About the Author
Shai Scot was born in Detroit, Michigan. Early tragedies, losses, and the hardships of living in the slums made her take some wrong directions in her life. Family secrets, street games and addictions landed her in the penitentiary with nothing but time on her hands. She took self-inventory and began to evaluate her life. After successfully achieving goals she set for herself in prison, she decided to write her first novel as a way to express herself and her life history.
