It is a collection of The Nobel Chronicles articles published in the prestigious British medical journal, The Lancet In its 91 chapters dealing with as many Nobel awards for Physiology or Medicine between 1901-2000, Dr. Raju offers lucid, eloquent, and simplified accounts on each of the Prizes-winning research, along with succinct biographical notes and photographs of the 172 respective laureates. Written for the general reader, this handbook also serves as an authentic source of reference information on the 20th century’s Nobel Prizes in medicine.

About the Author

Tonse Narayana Krishna Raju, MD, was born in Kodavooru, a coastal village in South India. After studying medicine and pediatrics in India, he trained in neonatology at University of Illinois in Chicago, where he is a Professor. A self-taught medical historian, Dr. Raju has lectured and written on this subject for over 25 years. A former president of the Society for Medical History of Chicago, he holds memberships in American Association for Medical History and the American Osler Society. Besides medical history articles in textbooks and professional journals, he recently wrote two highly popular series: Great Moments in Medicine in Hippocrates, a general-interest medical magazine, and The Nobel Chronicles in the prestigious British journal The Lancet.
